Наукова робота є невід’ємним напрямом діяльності кафедри туризму, рекреації та краєзнавства Львівського національного університету ветеринарної медицини та біотехнологій імені С.З. Ґжицького. У центрі уваги науковців кафедри є актуальні проблеми розвитку туризму, рекреації та краєзнавства. Головними пріоритетами наукової роботи кафедри є дослідження актуальних тенденцій розвитку рекреаційно-туристичного комплексу України, проблем управління і стратегічного планування розвитку сільського зеленого туризму на Львівщині та в Україні, розробка нових підходів до формування інноваційного туристичного транскордонного продукту, розвиток готельного бізнесу та сфери гостинності.

З метою обміну науковою інформацією науково-педагогічними працівниками кафедри туризму, рекреації та краєзнавства встановленні партнерські стосунки із провідними закладами вищої освіти, науково-дослідними установами, підприємцями та представниками влади, зокрема з Львівським національним університетом імені Івана Франка, Львівським державним університетом фізичної культури імені Івана Боберського, Мелітопольським державним педагогічним університетом імені Богдана Хмельницького, Одеським національним технологічним університетом, Департаментом спорту, молоді та туризму Львівської ОВА, Львівською асоціацією розвитку туризму, Комунальним закладом Львівської обласної ради «Львівський обласний центр краєзнавства, екскурсій і туризму учнівської молоді», Спілкою сприяння розвитку сільського зеленого туризму України, Яворівським національним природним парком, Регіональним ландшафтним парком «Знесіння», Регіональним ландшафтним парком «Верхньодністровські Бескиди», туристичним оператором «Відвідай», туристичним агентством «Савана», приватним підприємством «ГАЛТУРТРАНС», туристичним агентством «Навколо Світу - Тур» та іншими.

У сфері міжнародного співробітництва кафедра співпрацює з Компанією «STAFFORENT» (м. Варна, Болгарія), Компанією SkillSprint (Болгарія), Курортним спа-комплексом Aquapark Panorama Morska (с. Ярославець, Польща), Академією Замойською (м. Замость, Польща), Університетом економіки (м. Бидгощ, Польша), Вищою школою агробізнесу в Ломжі та іншими зарубіжними партнерами Львівського національного університету ветеринарної медицини та біотехнологій імені С.З. Ґжицького.

Науковою темою кафедри є «Розвиток соціо-еколого-економічної системи туризму і рекреації в умовах глобалізації» (Державний реєстраційний номер: 0123U101617, термін виконання: 03.2023-02.2028 рр.). За результатами наукових досліджень науково-педагогічними працівниками кафедри опубліковано ряд монографій у співавторстві, навчальних посібників, фахових статей у виданнях України, наукових статей у зарубіжних виданнях, у тому числі тих, які відносяться до наукометричної бази даних Scopus та Web of Science, тез доповідей міжнародних та всеукраїнських конференцій.
